• VAWA. Under VAWA, certain non-U.S. citizen victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, or abuse by a U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse or family member can self-petition for lawful immigration status without relying on the abusive family member for sponsorship.
• T & U Visa. T and U visas are two types of nonimmigrant visas offering immigration protections for victims of crimes like human tracking and qualifying criminal activities.
• Hardship Waiver. Applicants must demonstrate that the denial of their immigration benefits would cause "extreme hardship" to a qualifying relative, typically a spouse, parent, or child who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Fiancé Visa. Also known as a K-1 visa, this nonimmigrant visa allows a foreign national who is engaged to marry a U.S. citizen to enter the United States for the purpose of getting married.
• N-648 Cases. Form N-648, known as the Medical Certification for Disability Exceptions, is used by individuals applying for U.S. citizenship with physical or mental impairments that prevent them from fulfilling certain naturalization requirements.
• Cancellation of Removal. This relief option allows certain non-permanent residents to avoid deportation and obtain lawful permanent resident status. It is a discretionary relief granted by judges during the removal proceedings in immigration cases.
